A new Divisional director for Social Care Transformation has been appointed by Newham Council.
Grainne Siggins will be responsible for transforming the social care offered to adults to ensure it offers independence, choice and control.

She joins the council from the London Borough of Enfield where she was Assistant Director for Older People and Carers

Grainne has worked in the field of health and social care for the past 22 years and has held several senior management positions in the local authority, voluntary and health sectors. In previous roles she has been heavily involved in leading transformational change activity within social care.

She is committed to partnership working and has been a non-executive director for a Primary Care Trust for the past six years.

Grainne said "I am delighted to have been appointed to the position during this very exciting yet challenging time nationally and locally. Newham is a very ambitious and progressive borough with a new Executive Director for Adults, Community and Leisure and strong political leadership who are committed to improving local services for local people.

"I am committed to transforming adult social care services to be more responsive to the needs of local people whilst working actively with our partners to ensure the efficient use of resources and improved customer experience."

Kim Bromley-Derry, acting Chief Executive added: "I am delighted that someone of Grainne's calibre is joining the council. She will be a key part of ensuring that every adult in Newham has access to the services they need."
