Children at Hartley Primary School showed Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales how they created art works made from recycled materials when he visited their school.
The pupils created the works of art as part of the 'Go Green' day held at the school in East Ham.

The Mayor was joined by Councillors Quintin Peppiatt, Ian Corbett, Lakmini Shah, Unmesh Desai, Mary Skyers and Omana Gangadharan at the event.

Visitors were also given advice on household recycling, improving energy efficiency and how to minimise food waste.

Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales said: "I was very impressed by the art works. It was good to see the children getting on board with the recycling message.

"Newham's residents are already doing brilliantly when it comes to recycling but there is still room for them to do more. It was good to see so many of the borough's residents taking an interest in how they can become more environmentally friendly."

The event, organised by the East Ham Community Forum, also offered healthy eating guidance and advice on alternative transport such as cycling.
