Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

The London Legacy Development Corporation is investigating an unexplained metal object found during site excavation works in the south of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

At this stage (Friday pm) it has not been possible to determine the nature of the object. The LLDC is working closely with the Metropolitan Police to assess the situation and decide on the steps required to safely establish what the object is. Following further investigation the Metropolitan Police are satisfied that a small cordon initially imposed around the affected area can be lifted and the secure site has been handed back to the construction company where the object was found.

The park and venues continues to remain fully open and ready for visitors. Newham Council continues to monitor the situation and is ready to support should the situation change. Further information is available at www.queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk and the LDDC Twitter feed @noordinarypark
