What is a community hub

In community hubs, community lead councillors work with volunteers and residents to run activities and events and to make change in the area.
Activities include:
  • starting up community gardens
  • running fun days and street parties
  • starting up clubs and courses
  • building residents groups.
Everyone is welcome. Click on your community hub area to find out more or sign up as an Active Community Team volunteer today!

Active Community Team volunteers

Are you passionate about your local area and bringing people together?
Whether you would like to be part of the team planning community festivals, have an idea to improve your neighbourhood, have an ambition to start your own club for friends and neighbours or just want to meet new people and find out what’s going on in your area, we want to hear from you.
Each community hub has a team of volunteers who meet once a month with their community lead councillor and community hub officer. The get-togethers are fun and sociable, a chance to make new friends and come together with like-minded people.
Anyone over the age of 18 can become a volunteer. Fill out the registration form or contact your community hub officer who will be happy to hear from you.
