Suspensions and
dispensations
Within Residential Parking Zones
(RPZs), parking spaces may be suspended at the council's discretion
to allow for certain circumstances.
These include:
Suspension of on-street parking spaces
(bays)
- Weddings
- Funerals
- Business or domestic removals
- Building works
- Maintenance and repairs to the highway
- Maintenance and repairs to services (gas, water,
electric, telecoms etc)
buried within the highway
- Filming
Please note that disabled bays cannot be suspended by
residents or businesses for any reason. However, disabled bays may
be suspended when essential or emergency maintenance works need to
be undertaken.
Charges for daily bay suspensions are as
follows;
East Ham / Stratford / Upton Park
10.5 hrs x £2 = £21 per bay per day + £25 administration fee
Forest Gate / Little Ilford / Manor Park
8hrs x £2 = £16 per bay per day + £25 administration fee
Beckton / Canning Town / Market Street / Monega / Prince Regents
Lane / Ruskin / Stratford North East / Stratford North West /
Stratford South East / Stratford South West / West Ham
£25 administration fee only*
Green Street
10hrs x £2 = £20 per bay per day + £25 administration fee
Station Road and Romford Road
8hrs x £2 = £16 per bay per day + £25 administration fee
* The bay suspension charges directly reflect the hourly charge of
a pay and display ticket, therefore in RPZs where it is permit
holders only there is no bay charge.
See below for information on how to request the suspension of an
(on-street) parking bay.
Suspension of parking spaces in car parks
Parking spaces in Council owned car parks can be suspended for
certain purposes (i.e. building works, maintenance or filming)
etc.
Please allow at least 10 working days for your request to be
processed.
Each space carries a charge according to the tariff of that
particular car park. There is also a one-off administration charge
of £25.
See below for information on how to request the suspension of a
parking space.
Dispensations
A dispensation is short for "a dispensation from the waiting and
loading restrictions," that is to say, allowing a vehicle to wait
or load on yellow lines.
Dispensations will usually be granted for up to three months
where waiting/loading cannot be carried out:
- without the use of a vehicle
- outside the hours when the restrictions apply
- by correctly using a permitted parking place in the vicinity of
(but not immediately adjacent to) the destination.
Requests for dispensations have to be made in writing (see
below).
With your request, please include the following information:
- precise location including street, postcode, street numbers,
i.e. "John Street, E15, outside numbers 24-26")
- how often the location will be visited
- why the business cannot be operated outside the normal
controlled hours.
Please allow at least five working days for your request to be
processed.
Please note that each request will be considered carefully and
all requests are subject to approval from the Central Service
Manager (Parking).
Dispensations cost £50 for up to three days and £200 for three
months per vehicle.
