Creatures from the deep blue sea make an unexpected visit past the Town Hall! Other spectacular costumes also added to the colour and vibrancy of the carnival. The colourful costumes worn at the Newham Carnival are created by hundreds of young children from across Newham. Carnival time! Donkey rides have been a traditional feature of seaside resorts since Victorian times and young people were able to enjoy them at the Newham Show for free. We brought all the fun of the seaside to Newham with our very own beach, paddling pool, helter skelter and donkey rides. Having a restful break at the beach... Councillor Joy Laguda judges the best seaside fancy dress competition Splashing about in the paddling pool. Families make the most of Newham's own beach, created especially for the show The Ebony Steelband performed throughout the Newham Show weekend Pearly Queens join in the fun at Newham's own seaside It looks like a BBQ but this 1st place winning cake had a delicious chocolate sponge base under the decorative icing. Thie cake, inspired by the 2012 logo was entered into the best cake competition. Tin Can Alley was among many of the traditional games at the Newham Village Fete. The Mayor judges the best tasting chutney competition. Young people enjoying seaside traditions in Newham. The London Fire Brigade gave safety demonstrations at Newham Show Young people tested their reaction times and at the McCain Track and Field Roadshow in the Sports and Activities Area. The Mayor looks at a 3D map of the Olympic Park under development in Stratford. Inspirational art works from Newham's promising young artists. The Mayor shows his support for organ and blood donation. Residents joined in the Cockney Singsong with stars of the Brick Lane Music Hall featuring in the Cabaret Tent. Local Elvis tribute act, Sal Bashir wowed the crowds in the Cabaret Tent. Asian Elvis, Sal Bashir joins fans on the dance floor in the Cabaret Tent.
