Statement of Community Involvement

break

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how and when Council will consult the community and other stakeholders as it develops documents within its Local Development Framework.

The planning system encourages consultation from an early stage and the Statement of Community Involvement seeks to ensure that the community plays a role in developing the LDF.

The Statement of Community Involvement was formally adopted by Council on 20 July 2006. The SCI, the Adoption Statement and the Inspector's Report can be viewed below. In addition, the council adopted some amendments to the Statement of Community Involvement in February 2011.

Since the SCI was adopted, the legislation governing Local Development Framework has changed. The council has also adopted a new timetable for the LDF and has updated its Local Development Scheme. As a result of these changes, council agreed to some amendments to the SCI in February 2011. These changes do not affect the council's overall approach to Community Involvement nor its commitment to public consultation and community engagement in the planning process. The amendments can be viewed below.
