Core
Strategy
Newham has prepared a Core
Strategy - a new spatial plan for the borough. It will form the
overarching development plan in the Local Development Framework and
will set out the long-term spatial vision and spatial policies for
the borough. It will be key to delivering the Council's Sustainable
Community Strategy and implement parts of the London Plan, such as
housing and employment targets.
Inspector's report received - Core Strategy found
'sound'
The Core Strategy has been examined and the conclusion of the
Inspector's binding report is that the Core Strategy is sound,
subject to minor changes. Council received notification of the
Inspector's decision on 16 January 2012. The Inspector's report
(and accompanying appendices) and further information is available
on the
Core Strategy examination page. The final Core Strategy was
taken to both Cabinet and Council meetings for adoption on 26
January 2012.
The adopted Core Strategy can be viewed below. Please note that
this in an interim version and an updated version incorporating a
Proposals Map will be made available in due course.
Core Strategy examination and minor changes
Newham's Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State (via
the planning Inspectorate) on 31 March 2011. The Core Strategy
Submission document has been subject to Examination in Public, with
public hearings before a Government appointment Inspector taking
place between September 13 and September 29. Details of the
examination are available on the
Core Strategy examination page.
The Core Strategy has been subject to post-submission minor
amendments since it was submitted to the Secretary of State. These
amendments have been made in response to representations and, in
addition, include officer led minor changes. A schedule of post
submission minor amendments has been prepared following the
examination. In addition, the Core Strategy Submission Draft has
been updated to include the minor amendments, as set out in the
schedule.
The Schedule of Post Submission Minor Amendments to the Core
Strategy Submission Draft and the Core Strategy Submission Draft
Incorporating Post Submission Minor Amendments can be viewed on the
Core Strategy examination page. Comments on the minor changes
were invited until 16 November 5.30pm (this consultation has now
closed).
