Detailed Sites and
Policies DPD
Following the near completion of
the Core Strategy we have commenced preparation of a further DPD as
part of the LDF process. This is the Detailed Sites and Policies
Development Plan Document.
The Detailed Sites and Policies DPD will will
include:
- detailed development management policies to complement those
already in the Core Strategy;
- a list of potential additional development sites, of more local
importance, to supplement the Strategic Sites already identified in
the Core Strategy;
- a list of sites to be protected from certain types of
development;
- other spatial designations including town and local centre
boundaries; and
- more detailed proposals for Strategic Sites where the evidence
is available
Call for Sites
The first stage in the preparation of this document comprises a
period of data gathering which aims to identify potential
additional development sites - the other elements of the document
mentioned above will be covered at the 'Issues and Options' stage
(please see below).
- Do you know of any sites which have potential for
development?
- Are there sites where you think the buildings should be kept
but used for something different?
- Are there sites that you think should be protected from
development?
- Are there sites that could help address shortfalls in open
space, play space etc?
- Can you give us any additional information about those
sites?
We asked interested parties to respond to the 'Call
for Sites' by sending in details of those sites you would like us
to consider during a five week period ending 5pm 15 December 2011
(extended 24 hours to 5pm 16 December 2011 due to computer system
problems on 15 December).
Consultation on Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) Scoping
Report
At the same time we published an Integrated Impact
Assessment (IIA) scoping report for the Detailed Sites and Policies
DPD. The IIA scoping report sets the context for statutory impact
assessment of the DPD and establishes the scope of how
Sustainability Appraisal (SA) and Strategic Environment Assessment
(SEA), and a number of other statutory impact assessments, will be
carried out and contribute to the development of the DPD. The
Scoping Report is to be found under the 'Supporting Documents' tab
on the
Newham LDF
consultation portal.
What happens next?
We will be looking at all the sites suggested and
we may add to the list through our own work. We will include
options for the sites we think most appropriate in the consultation
document 'Issues and Options for the Detailed Sites and Policies
DPD' together with an accompanying Integrated Impact Assessment,
which is programmed for late Spring 2012. Please note that the
Council's 2008 Development Control Policy Manual Issues and Options
document, and the results of the consultation, are to be reviewed
as a part of this process.
