Earlier stages of the
Joint Waste DPD
The Joint Waste DPD was adopted by
the four East London Waste Authority Boroughs in early 2012. This
page details the earlier stages of the DPD's
preparation.
Adoption
Following the conclusion of the examination and receipt of the
Inspector's report, the final Joint Waste DPD was taken to Council
meetings for adoption in early 2012 on the following dates: 19
January 2012 (Redbridge); 1 February 2012 (Havering); 22 February
2012 (Barking and Dagenham); and 27 February 2012 (Newham). The

Examination
Following its submission, the Joint Waste DPD was examined by a
Government appointed Inspector, with public hearings taking place
between 5 April 2011 and 7 April 2011. The Inspector's binding
report was received by the East London Waste Authority boroughs on
14 November 2011. Details of the examination can be found on the

Submission
The Joint Waste DPD was submitted to the Secretary of State on
30 November 2010, for examination. The documents submitted at this
stage are set out below:
Schedule of Advertised Proposed Changes
Consultation on the Schedule of Advertised Proposed Changes to the
Joint Waste DPD took place between 27 September 2010 and 8 November
2010. This consultation regarded changes proposed to the Joint
Waste DPD presented in the Proposed Submission Draft consultation
last year. The Schedule of Advertised Proposed Changes documents
can be viewed below.
Proposed Submission
Public consultation on the Joint Waste DPD Proposed Submission took
place between 17 August 2009 and 28 September 2009. The Proposed
Submission document took forward the Preferred Options, including
refined policies and site allocations. Comments were required to
focus on matters of soundness and legal compliance as part of the
DPD's preparation for submission for independent examination.
Preferred Options
Public consultation on the Joint Waste DPD Preferred Options took
place between 7 April 2008 and 19 May 2008. The Preferred Options
included options for policies and site allocations.
Issues and Options
Public consultation on the Joint Waste DPD Issues and Options took
place between 16 April 2007 and 4 June 2007. The Issues and Options
established the spatial issues and options for preparing the
DPD.
Scoping report
Consultation of the Joint Waste DPD Sustainability Appraisal
Scoping Report took place between 9 October 2006 and 13 November
2006. The publication of the scoping report represent's the first
stage of the DPD's preparation. It sets out the parameters within
which the
Sustainability Appraisal of the Joint Waste DPD would be
carried out.
