Building Schools for the Future

How will the programme be delivered?

Newham has an excellent track record of delivering high quality, complex and far reaching projects aimed at raising educational standards through capital investment.
The council will work in partnership with all stakeholders to deliver a programme that is focused on improving educational outcomes rather than simply renovation of buildings. A key element of this is the creation of a Local Educational Partnership (LEP) which will be set up as a joint venture company comprising the London Borough of Newham, Partnerships for Schools (PfS) and a private sector partner. PfS is the body set up by the government to deliver BSF. The LEP will be responsible for delivering the design and refurbishment or, in the case of some schools, rebuild to provide the new educational facilities funded by the BSF scheme. Four schools will be rebuilt and these will be financed through a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract.
