Council Tax 2008-2009

Find out how much you have to pay.
Your Council Tax pays for hundreds of services that you use every day, from having your bins emptied to educating your children. Each year, we work out how much we need to run these services, as well as our day-to-day running costs, for the next financial year. It is this figure that helps to decide how much council tax you pay.

The Inland Revenue's Listing Officers have valued your home on the basis of open market values on April 1 1991. There are eight valuation bands and your home will fall into one of them.

The council has set an amount for band D and you will pay a percentage of this depending on which band your property is in.
