Conducting the Civil
Marriage
A brief overview of your Civil
Wedding...
The Marriage ceremony is conducted by a Registrar from
the Register Office, and you will need to
contact this
office to book a time for attendance.
There is a separate
fee for
this service which must be paid as soon as possible to ensure that
the Registrar will be available on the day of your Marriage.
The Notice of Marriage of 15 days
Notice of Marriage must also be given to the Superintendent
Registrar of the district in which each party resides for which a
statutory fee is also payable.
So before you can be married in England and Wales you must
first give formal notice of your intention and it must be more than
15 days in advance of your wedding.
