Green Waste & Composting

We offer a free service that allows Newham residents to recycle all organic waste from their gardens, including flowers, leaves and bark, small branches, twigs, straw, weeds and wood shavings - in fact, any "green" waste that can be composted. This is part of our efforts to help reduce levels of household refuse in the borough.

    FREE Green Waste Collection

    Newham provides a FREE Green Waste Collection for residents. So don't bin your green waste, put it into normal refuse sacks or bundles to be picked up by a dedicated Green Waste Collection vehicle.

    Tips on How to Compost

    Not only is composting good for your garden, it also reduces waste going to landfills which is great for the environment. Did you know that over 30 per cent of the average household bin can be composted - thats about 150kg a year or the equivilant of a baby elephant! Here are some tips on how to get started.
