Help with Finding Childcare

The Children's Information Service (CIS)

We provide free information for parents and carers about childcare, training, jobs in childcare and other services for children aged 0-16.
We provide information on:

  • Childcare/early years provision and childcare/early years vacancies
  • Selecting the right provision for you
  • Where to get help with paying for childcare
  • Where to go if you want to train or work in childcare
  • What to do if you want to set up childcare provision
  • Other in-depth support and advice

What happens next?

We will give you the information you need by telephone, by email or through the post about the types of services offered by providers registered with us and also provide information to help you make informed choices.

More in-depth queries can be discussed on a one-to-one basis in the office with a member of the team. Appointments are available on request.

Our database

The CIS database is free for providers to join. We will add your details on request and, with your permission, your details can also be displayed on the National Childcare website.
