The council is made up of the Mayor and 60 locally elected councillors who make decisions on how to provide local services on behalf of local people.
The Mayor is responsible for all executive decisions and provides strategic leadership.
Most of the major decisions about the council's business are made at meetings which are open to the public.
The Forward Plan tells you what key decisions will be made by the Mayor or by officers over the coming months.
