How Newham is Governed

Cabinet Meetings

The Cabinet meets monthly usually in public. See the calendar for the dates and times of meetings.
The Cabinet must meet in public when:

- making recommendations to us on policy budget and policy framework.
- making a key decision.
- they are going to discuss in the presence of officers a key decision of an officer or the Mayor at least 28 days before they will make the decision.

Otherwise, the Mayor can decide whether the Cabinet meets in public or private.

The Cabinet will also consider all reports from scrutiny bodies on scrutiny reviews. The agenda and reports are published 5 clear days before the meeting and are available on our website (see agendas and decisions) or at libraries, service centres and council offices or you can contact Member Services on 020 8430 3402.

The decisions are also published, usually 2 and 5 days after the meeting. All executive decisions are subject to call-in.

If you have a question, comment or enquiry about a council service, please use our Enquiry Form.
