What is the difference between the Mayor and the Civic Ambassador?
The Mayor, currently Sir Robin Wales, is an elected post. The Civic Ambassador role is done by a councillor appointed by the Council. The Civic Ambassador performs the functions of the mayor according to the traditional definition in most other local authorities - including wearing the ceremonial dress and chain of office.
