When the Mayor is making decisions alone or in consultation with
an individual cabinet member or mayoral adviser, he will make these
decisions at meetings known as mayoral proceedings.

All reports of the Mayor or a key decision of an officer are
published 5 clear working days before the decision is taken. The
reports include recommendations which set out the intended
decision.

The Overview and Scrutiny function acts as a check and balance
on the Executive Mayor, holding him to account for his
decisions.

The Cabinet meets monthly usually in public. See the calendar
for the dates and times of meetings.

The council is made up of the Mayor and 60 locally elected
councillors who make decisions on how to provide local services on
behalf of local people.

The political make-up of the Council is made up of the Mayor
(Sir Robin Wales - Labour) and 60 Councillors (currently 54 are
Labour, 3 are Christian Peoples Alliance and 3 are
Respect).
