The service for deaf and hard of hearing children

The service for deaf and partially hearing children is based within the learning support service.
The service offers a bi-lingual British sign language (BSL) / English or an English auditory/oral education to children who are deaf or hard of hearing aged 0 - 16.

We:

  • Work in partnership with parents and carers and can offer home based support for children aged 0 - 4
  • Offer training to parents and carers of children who are deaf or hard of hearing so that they develop the skills to confidently communicate with their children
  • Work closely with staff in schools as well as other professionals who support children who are deaf or hard of hearing such as those working in the audiology clinics.

Schools normally contact the team directly about children who are of school Age, but any parent / carer of a child who is deaf or hard of hearing is welcome to contact the service directly if they have any queries on 020 8430 4801.
