Interpreting and Translation Services

FAQs

I need an interpreter in order to speak to someone from the council. How can I get help?
Please inform a member of council staff and let them know which language you speak. They will be able to book an interpreter for you over the phone or in person through the Language Shop. If an interpreter is not available at that time, they will make another appointment for you to come in when an interpreter assist you.
Will I have to pay for interpreting and translating services?
Members of the public will not be charged for interpreting and most translations; however, we charge a standard fee of between £30 and £40 for translations of marriage, divorce and death certificates. We also charge a standard fee to organisations for interpreting and translations.
