The Department for Education and Skills 'Playing for Success'
initiative is aimed at establishing out of school Study Support
Centres at football clubs and other sports' grounds.

We aim to raise expectation, motivation and achievement amongst
young people and adults by increasing their participation in the
learning process.

The Parental Involvement courses aim to enable parents to become
involved in their children's and their own learning to help raise
achievement and to further enhance the enjoyment of
learning.

Family learning courses offer parents, grandparents, children
and carers the opportunity to learn together in acquiring new
skills through a number of courses and workshops.

Other projects supported by Learning Community Services include
Breakfast Clubs, Homework Clubs, Motivational Lectures and GCSE
Community Language Teaching Grants.

Support is available for schools to set up and develop
additional opportunities for learning and personal development
outside of normal school hours.

Newham's Learning Community Service funds and supports 12
Saturday Schools.

Our free summer and holiday school programmes offer children
additional learning opportunities during the summer holidays and
other school breaks.
