National Year of Reading

2008 is the National Year of Reading and Newham's libraries will be holding a wide range of events and promotions across the borough. Join a reading group, meet an author or take part in a competition! We also have lots of fun suggestions on new ways to enjoy reading on your own or with others.

The National Year of Reading (NYR) is a year-long celebration of reading, in all its forms. It aims to help build a greater national passion for reading in England - for children, families and adult learners alike.

Each month during the 2008 National Year of Reading has a different theme to inspire you with reading activities and entertainment. We will share with you our favourite ideas from each month's theme on their Year of Reading Themes page.

Throughout the National Year of Reading we will also feature library staff reviews of some of their favourite books on our Recommended Reads page.
