Library Services

Fees and Charges

A list of fees for books, CDs, DVDs, and more, is available below. You can renew items online or over the phone, but charges for overdue items must be paid in person at a Newham library.
Please note:

  • No charge is made for the loan of books, music cassettes, spoken word and language courses
  • All items may be renewed over the phone or online at our library catalogue (find out how to get a PIN and access your account online), unless requested by another reader.
  • Items with loan charges (audio and visual items) will incur an additional loan charge
  • Senior citizens and disabled people are not charged fines for the first two weeks items are overdue
  • Library concessions are available to those receiving benefits and for full-time students
  • Children and young people (under 17 years old) do not pay loan charges and are not charged for overdue items
  • When receiving any item, please have your library card available
