Library Services for Young People
Babies and
Toddlers
It's never too early to introduce your
child to the library…

We've got books and activities for you and even the
youngest children including:
- Board books
- Picture books
- Early learning books
- Dual language books
- Story cassettes
- DVDs and videos
- Toys (at some libraries)
We also have lots of books available with advice on minding and
raising children. Come along to one of our free
story and rhyme time sessions where you can
enjoy story telling, songs, rhymes, games and craft activities
with your children, as well as meeting other parents and
carers.
Several of our libraries have fun and educational toys for young
children. You and your child can play with the toys during the
Toy Library session or borrow the toys and
take them home.
Let your child's imagination take them to a world of play and
adventure during our Imaginative Play sessions at
East Ham library. Children get an oppurtunity
to dress up as fictional characters.
Get busy at our Messy Play in Beckton library where you and your child can
take part in a variety of crafts activities and get really
messy!
Bookstart is the national programme that encourages all parents and
carers to enjoy books with children from as early an age as
possible by giving them free books. If your child is aged under 4,
you are entitled to a free pack with books, advice on how to read
with your child and other goodies. To collect your free pack,
simply take your child's 'Red Book' down to your local library and
ask a member of staff. |
