The Greenway Centre provides a confidential and comprehensive sexual health service in Newham (Tuesday - Friday).

Provides consultations, investigations, diagnosis, counselling and access to all current treatment for patients with sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. The clinic also offers emergency contraception, free condoms, sexual assault follow-up care and advice on sexual problems and safer sex.

The Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) team is part of the Primary Care Trust working closely with community and acute services to offer comprehensive care and support for people in Newham living with HIV. The nurses are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team in HIV treatment centres across Northeast London and have a strong role in discharge planning. The nurses work closely with district nurses, health visitors, school nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, social services and voluntary organisations. Nurses can also work together with GP's where appropriate and with clients' consent.

Provides support and advice around:

  • Adherence to medication
  • Coming to terms with diagnosis
  • Physical disability associated with HIV
  • Disclosure of diagnosis
  • Pre-test discussions with parents/carers
  • Follow-up care of babies born to HIV positive mothers

The service is offered to anyone who is resident in Newham and living with HIV irrespective of what hospital they receive their HIV care from. Referrals must be received from a member of the client's healthcare team.
