Regular consulting with the community and key stakeholders will take place as we develop the Local Development Framework. Check here for details of current and previous consultations.
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is a folder of documents, which will set the scene for the development and regeneration of the borough over the next 20 years.
The Core Strategy is a plan for the long-term development of the borough. It will set out the future direction of the borough for years ahead and affects everyone who lives, works or does business in Newham.
The Development Control Policy Manual DPD will contain a series of criteria based development control policies, for use in the detailed consideration of planning applications. It will be designed to ensure development accords with the over arching principles set out in the Core Strategy.
The Joint Waste Development Plan Document (DPD) for East London will set out a planning strategy for sustainable waste management that extends to 2020.
The Stratford and Lower Lea Valley AAP will provide policy for an area of London that is undergoing significant change. Many new homes, businesses, shops and community facilities are proposed for Stratford and the Lower Lea Valley - the AAP will be about how these areas capitalise on the changes.
This will deliver change in a key regeneration area in the south of the Borough.
The Canning Town and Custom House Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was adopted on 17th July 2008 by the London Borough of Newham.
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) explains what documents will be included in Newham's Local Development Framework and when the documents will be produced.
A Sustainability Appraisal will be carried out on all the Local Development Documents in the LDF. This will allow us to assess the possible impact that our policies might have on the environment and help the preparation of plans which will promote sustainable forms of development.
