Area Action Plans (AAPs) will provide a planning framework for
areas where significant change or conservation is needed. It is
intended that three AAPs will be prepared for Stratford & the
Lea Valley, Thameside West & Royals and Beckton & the
Albert Basin. The local development scheme sets out the timeline
for when these documents will be produced.
-
We want to involve the community at all stages in the process of
preparing the documents.
-
The LDF is a folder of documents, which will set the scene for
the development and regeneration of the borough over the next 20
years.
-
The London Borough of Newham is currently preparing key
documents for it's new development plan: the Local Development
Framework (LDF).
-
Since 2004 the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act requires us
to monitor the performance and effects of planning policies that
form part of the Local Development Framework. An Annual Monitoring
Report is published at the end of every calendar year as part of
these monitoring requirements.
-
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) explains what documents will
be included in the Local Development Framework and how and when
these documents will be prepared.
-
The Core Strategy is a plan for the long-term development of the
borough. It will set out the future direction of the borough for
years ahead and affects everyone who lives, works or does business
in Newham.
-
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD's) will be developed in
line with the LDF process, and will be similar to our current
Supplementary Planning Guidance.
-
The Stratford and Lower Lea Valley is an area which is
undergoing major change. It includes areas that are already in the
process of regeneration and renewal and much work is still to be
done. We aim to provide a policy structure which will guide that
process of change.
-
A Sustainability Appraisal will be carried out on all the Local
Development Documents in the LDF. This will allow us to assess the
possible impact that our policies might have on the environment and
help the preparation of plans which will promote sustainable forms
of development.
-
We will be regularly consulting the community and key
stakeholders as we develop the Local Development Framework. Check
here for details of current and previous consultations. We are
currently consulting on the Development Control Policy
Manual.
