Adult Education Courses January 2008
Newham Community Education Service
(Newceys) in partnership with Newham College of Further Education,
provides part-time day and evening courses at a wide variety of
local centres across Newham, recruiting over 10,000 students each
year. The service is also responsible for Debden House Centre for
Education and Training, which has an extentive programme of day and

How to Enrol Enrolment at most centres starts on
Monday 7 January 2008. For information about how to enrol, or if
you simply need more information about the courses before you make
your choice, please telephone the relevant number listed below each
venue in the area leaflets.
Tuition fees are listed beside each course. Fee concessions may be
available if you are in receipt of benefits (or their dependants),
those under 19 or over 60.
There may be additional charges for residential fees, exam fees or
materials used on the course - these costs are applicable to both
those who have paid the full course fee and those who are in
receipt of free tuition. Please check when you enrol.
Skills for Life - ESOL (English for Speakers of Other
Languages) We offer a wide range of English (ESOL)
courses: from Non-Literate, (i.e. those who have no written skills
in their own language) to Level 2 (GCSE equivalent), together with
English for Citizenship and English for Entry to Employment. We
also offer preparation for IELTS and Cambridge First
Certificate.
All Newceys ESOL courses are part-time. Learners are first
assessed so they are placed in the correct level of class. All
Entry Level 1-3 courses are accredited, giving learners nationally
recognised evidence of their achievement.
Skills for Life - Literacy and Numeracy
If you need help with your reading, writing or maths then these are
the courses for you. They are FREE, at all levels from Pre-entry to
Level 2. Newceys runs part-time skills for Life courses int eh
daytime and evening throughout the borough. Newham College of
Further Education also offers courses.

Creche
Some centres have daytime creche facilities for adult students with
children aged two to five. The creches are fully equipped and
staffed by experienced workers. However, places do have to be
booked so please ask about creche places when you enrol.
Disabled Students Newham welcomes disabled
students and if needed, will make special arrangements to help all
members of the community participate in classes. However some
centres are more accessible than others so please telephone for
more information.
Learning and Skills Council
All the courses included in this advert are funded by the Learning
and Skills Council in compliance with the LSC's Quality Standards
and are subject to inspection by the Adult Learning
Inspectorate.
