Newham Community Education and Youth Service

Debden House

Debden House Centre is Newham's residential adult education centre located in Loughton, Essex.
Call Debden House on 020 8508 3008 or visit the Debden House website.

It consists of a large, Georgian house - a grade 2 listed building - and a 50 acre campsite.

Two separate services are delivered by Debden House Centre:

  • A training centre located in Debden House itself which is set in large, well kept gardens. It provides residential and non-residential training and conference facilities for both Newham and non-Newham users. Weekday use of the training centre is mostly non-residential, in-service training whereas weekends tend to be devoted to residential learning experiences often, although not exclusively, in leisure linked subjects.
  • A camping facility set in 7 well-kept fields providing opportunities for private camping and use by groups via set camps facilities. The camping facility is increasingly used by Newham schools to provide outdoor activities for their pupils, particularly those in the younger age group. The campsite benefits from well maintained toilet facilities, play equipment, a well stocked shop, a café and a laundry facility. Although set in Epping Forest, it is within walking distance of the shopping and leisure facilities of Loughton and Debden.
