Paying by Standing Order

Standing Order is an instruction you give to your bank to pay an amount at regular intervals to an organisation, whose details you supply to your bank.
Standing Order has many advantages such as:

  • no waiting in queues
  • no writing or posting of cheques or postal orders
  • no worries about forgetting to pay
  • no need to carry large amounts of cash
You should allow extra days for your payment to go through the clearing bank system. The details you will need are:

Co-operative Bank
1-3 South Street
Romford
Essex
RM11 1XB
Sort code 08 90 11
Account number 61165515

You must quote the Council's reference number for the bill you are paying e.g. your Rent, Council Tax or Business Rates account number. This will be shown on your bill.

You will however need to change your Standing Order each time you get a new bill or there is a change to the amount or frequency to your bill.
