Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)

We enforce parking controls in Newham with a mixture of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs - also known as 'parking fines') and vehicle removals. Parking regulations are designed to allow Newham's residents to find parking near to their homes and help local businesses by keeping traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.

How much does a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) cost?

The charges for PCNs are not set by individual councils, but by a London-wide body called London Councils.

What should I do if I receive a PCN?

If you are observed committing a Parking, Bus Lane or Moving Traffic contravention, a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) may be issued. If you do not pay or contest the PCN, you will receive further notices and may be contacted by bailiffs. There are different types of notice and each one requires a different action.
