Duty Officer & Pre-application
service
The Council operates a general advisory service for applicants and
members of the public. A duty planner is available during normal
working hours to give general procedural and other advice, or to
answer any site-specific, factual matters. The duty planner will
not normally be in a position to discuss specific proposals and is
available to give more general advice only. Please contact Planning
reception on Tel: 020 8430 2000 and ask for the duty planner.
A pre-application service is also available to discuss specific
ideas and proposals in advance of submission. Earlier this year,
the London Borough of Newham introduced a charging system for
pre-application advice on medium, larger and more complex cases.
The Council offers free advice for other domestic and
small-scale applications. More information on the
formal pre-application advice system and
charges
