Pollution and Noise from Construction

Docklands Light Railway Extension

Works are underway to extend the City Airport DLR line to Woolwich Arsenal and to create a new line from Canning Town to Stratford.
The works are being carried out by Woolwich Arsenal Rail Enterprises (WARE). Construction began in June 2005 and is expected to last approximately three and a half years. The route will be at ground level from the Airport to Peir Road in North Woolwich.

Officers are also engaged in continual dialogue with the contractors over the construction works regarding code of construction practice and controls for noise and vibration impact through the system of prior consents under Section 61 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
