Regeneration Projects

The Regeneration Service - Planning Department

Our regeneration service works very closely with developers, their contractors and end users to link local people and businesses into the benefits resulting from the regeneration of Newham.
We are confident in our ability to work with developers and their partners to deliver the most exciting opportunities for business, leisure and residential districts to London over the next 10-15 years to boost the capital's role as a World City.

These major developments will transform the outlook for jobs and housing, radically improve the environment and establish the borough as a successful business location.

Over the next ten years it is estimated that 20,000 construction jobs (full-time equivalent) will be needed in Newham alone to build the new developments. On completion a further 40,000 full-time operational jobs will then be created in the following areas:

  • Retail
  • Finance & business administration
  • Health and social care
  • Hospitality
  • Tourism
  • Transport
  • Logistics
  • Cultural & creative industries

Through Newham's Access to Jobs, partnership, employment and business organisations are co-ordinating their efforts to ensure that local people have the information and skills necessary to benefit from the increased job opportunities expected as a result of regeneration within the borough.
