Information on Citizenship, Citizenship
Ceremonies and the Nationality Checking Service...
The Home Office decided in 2003 that all new British citizens
over the age of 18 should participate in a ceremony to welcome them
to Britain and into their local community rather than just signing
a document with a solicitor.
Our Nationality Checking Service is a partnership service
between the Home Office Nationality Group and local councils in
England and Wales. Its purpose is to make it easier for people to
submit applications for British citizenship.
