The Register Office Virtual Tour, Marriages and Civil Partnerships

Information on giving Notice of Marriage and getting married, and giving notice of a Civil Partnership and entering into a Civil Partnership...
Renewal of Marriage Vows and Commitment Ceremonies are here too.

Before you can be married in England and Wales you must first give formal notice of your intention and it must be more than 15 days in advance of your wedding. But no more than 12 months in advance.

Both of you will be required to give notice, in person, normally to the register office in the district(s) in which you each live, irrespective of where you intend to be married. However, this is different if one or both of you are not British or European Union Nationals.

Don't forget you should first contact the office for the district where you wish to marry to check availability of dates.

All of the above applies to Civil Partnerships too.
