Residential Care for Older People

Rawalpindi House Residential Home

Welcome to Rawalpindi House, a residential home for older people in Newham where you can stay for a short break or live permanently, depending on your needs.

Purpose-built for caring for older people, Rawalpindi House was opened in 1980 and has recently undergone a programme of refurbishment. It offers excellent facilities for 32 people in four units suitable for group living. Each unit has its own lounge, dining and kitchen area and all bedrooms are en-suite.

Rawalpindi is a home where any person, whatever your background, preferences or specific needs, can enjoy a peaceful stay in the restful surroundings. In the warm and friendly atmosphere, you can be sure that your needs come first with our trained and sympathetic staff.

The home uses assistive technology to provide enhanced care quality to clients. Various alarms like incontinence and epileptic fit alarms allow staff to be alerted to client needs early. This facilitates better and focussed care depending on the needs of the client. The staff at the home will discuss options to use the service with you and following your concurrence this service will be provided to you.

The home also provides computer access to residents with training facilities. This allows for residents to communicate with relatives across the globe with relative ease at their convenience.

We aim to provide quality services to the highest standard and we will always take your personal choices and independence into account when caring for you. We can cater for a range of special diets and practices.

In Newham, we aim to uphold the following principles of care:
• Support for your physical, emotional, cultural, religious or social needs
• Carrying out a regular individual assessment
• Helping to maintain your independence in a safe and secure environment
• Giving privacy and dignity
• Offering freedom of choice
• Respecting individual beliefs and culture

If your needs change over time and you become more frail we promise to help meet your changing needs. This may mean moving from a residential care home to nursing care where your needs will be met by a team dedicated to providing higher support care.
