Road Safety

What We Do

Educating the public on the dangers of road use is one key way we can help to keep Newham's roads safe.
At the Traffic Management & Road Safety Unit we also:

  • Educate the public on how to travel safely, whether driving, walking or riding a bike
  • Assess crashes to find out what common factors could have caused them
  • Use crash evidence to implement measures to reduce the number of crashes in future
  • Alter the layout of roads to increase safety
  • Manage school crossing patrols ie Lollipop ladies and men
  • Advise children and parents on safer routes to school
