School Meals

Food in schools project

The School Meals Service, Newham Healthy Schools and our Primary Care Trust partners have teamed up to assist schools in ensuring that there is a whole school approach to Healthy Eating.
Chef trainer visits mean that schools also receive:

  • Training on how to produce a food policy ensuring that pupils and parents are consulted and can help shape their school policy
  • Training midday meal supervisors in what constitutes a healthy meal and how can they assist pupils in selecting a balanced meal
  • Prepare and Taste Sessions for pupils
  • Support with running food-related events e.g. Healthy Living Weeks
  • Information for parents on packed lunches
  • All pupils will see a performance of a Healthy Eating Play
