Scrutiny

More details about Scrutiny

Scrutiny is undertaken by councillors and acts as a check and balance on the Mayor, holding him to account for his decisions.
Our Scrutiny committees review and develop our policies to ensure that they have the most beneficial impact on the people of Newham.

Scrutiny is one of the most significant ways in which a non-executive councillor can contribute to our direction and act as a community leader for the people of Newham.

Scrutiny looks at different areas of our policy and the services provided by other organisations in Newham. It also has specific powers to scrutinise health services.
