Services for Deafblind or Dual Sensory Impaired Adults

Available services

It is now a requirement for all local authorities to undertake the following activities:
  • Identify and make contact with all deafblind people in the locality
  • Offer a specialist assessment by a person trained to understand the needs of dual sensory impairment
  • Ensure Deafblind people have appropriate services
  • Provide specially trained one-to-one support for people who need it
  • Provide information accessible to Deafblind people

Our specialist deafblind worker, working in conjunction with other members of the team, offers a specialist assessment of your needs. The type of services available following this assessment include:

  • One to one support to read or get out and about
  • Equipment and training to help you stay independent both inside and outside your home
  • Advice and help in getting the right support and benefits

The deafblind specialist worker will also work alongside the relevant social work team when additional support is required.
