Services for Visually Impaired Adults

Where do I go if I'm having problems with my eyesight?

The first contact for most people will be with their optician or local optometrist. It is important to have regular examinations.
An eye examination is not simply about getting glasses - it's also a vital health check. There is a charge for eye tests but you may be entitled to help or free examinations. Ask your local social security office for more details.

You may also be referred to your local hospital eye clinic or ophthalmology department for a more detailed investigation. Speak with your optometrist or GP for further details.

The sensory disability team may be able to help if you are experiencing difficulties arising from your visual impairment. See support and rehabilitation.
