Skips and Building Materials

Applying For a Skip Licence or Permit

Three days' notice is required for a skip permit. Large scale projects may also need planning permission and be required to meet building regulations.
The conditions of a licence are to ensure that the skip is placed for a minimum period of time, emptied frequently, made safe at night and not used for storage of hazardous/dangerous materials or for fly tipping. They must also not be overloaded or the skip company will not remove them.

We do not issue licences to individuals. Instead, we licence skip companies. You can download our list of approved skip companies.

If you are a company and would like to join the Council's list of skip providers, you can download an approved skip company application form.

If you are a company, you may also need to download an application for a permit to deposit skips on the highway
