Ramgarhia Badminton
Senior Club
The Ramgarhia Badminton Club is an
excellent example of a successful community sports club. The
Ramgarhia Badminton Senior Club has been running for over 15 years
and the junior club was formed in October 2004 and has been an
overwhelming success story. The Club has increased participation
amongst both young people and adults by providing positive sporting
activities.
Ramgarhia Badminton Junior Club was recently accredited
with Clubmark status, and has been acknowledged for having good
standards of child protection, coaching, equality and
management.
Ramgarhia Badminton Club is the first Badminton Club in Newham and
only the third Club in Essex and associated London Boroughs to be
accredited by Badminton England, the governing body of the sport.
The accreditation has also given the club a Premier Club status.
The club has strong links with Newham Sports Development who
assisted the club to develop and provided a grant for the club. The
club works closely with Newham Sports Development team in all
developmental areas and facilitating holiday coaching programmes.
It also works with the Badminton Development Officer and has
established links with Essex County that allows talented juniors to
maximise their potential and take their game to a higher
level.
The club facilitates competitive
badminton by entering the teams into District, County leagues and
local cup tournaments. The junior club was also given the
responsibility for selecting and training the squad to represent
Newham at the London Youth Games.
