TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC

(Various Roads) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) )Order 2008.

Made: 31^st October 2008

Coming into Force: 24^th November 2008.

WHEREAS the Council of the London Borough of Newham ("the Council") being the traffic authority for the various roads shown in the schedule (below) in the said London Borough is satisfied that traffic on lengths of the said road should be prohibited to allow works on or adjacent to the highway.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a) ("The Act") as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991(b), and of all other enabling powers hereby make the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as The London Borough of Newham (Olympic Delivery Authority) (Gas Main) (Various Roads) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)) Order 2008.

2. No person shall cause any vehicle to enter, leave or wait in the various roads or parts thereof in the attached schedule, at such times as appropriate traffic signs are displayed in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002(c).

3. Without prejudice to the validity of anything done or to any liability incurred in respect of any act or omission before the coming into force of this Notice, the Newham (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Special Parking Area) Order 1994 shall apply to the roads or parts of roads mentioned in paragraph 2 above as if, for the purposes of the application of Article 5(1) of that Order to the said lengths of street, the prescribed hours were "at any time".

4. Traffic will be diverted via local adjacent roads and may travel in both directions along all the roads or parts thereof, at such times as appropriate traffic signs are displayed in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002(c). The restrictions imposed by various Traffic Management Orders will be temporarily suspended while the appropriate signs are displayed.

5.Vehicular access may be gained from either side of the closure. There will be two way working where necessary.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

6. Nothing in this Order shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a Police Constable in uniform or a Traffic Warden or to any vehicle used in connection with the works.

7. This Order shall expire on 23^rd May 2010.
