Pledge
We work in partnership with the people
that live, work and visit Newham to provide a pleasant and clean
environment.
We continually monitor our services to identify where
there are opportunities for improvement to that environment for all
the community.
What you can expect from our services:
- To sweep all adopted roads and footways at least once a
week, some more frequently.
- Inspect over 400 different roads every month to ensure
that their cleanliness is acceptable.
- Respond to complaints about roads that have become dirty
before their scheduled sweep within 12 working hours.
- Empty litter bins at least once a week.
- Remove small flytips in three working days (larger
flytips in five working days).
- Remove dead animals from roads within 24
hours.
- Remove offensive graffiti by the end of the next working
day.
- Remove dog fouling by the end of the next working
day.
- Inspect all reported abandoned vehicles within two
working days and where the law permits, remove those confirmed as
abandoned within one working day.
- Clear blocked gullies, where parking permits, within two
working days.
- Empty your wheelie bin once a week and remove other
rubbish presented in an appropriate way, for example, in refuse
sacks.
- Return your wheelie bin tidily to an appropriate
location.
- Replace lost and damaged wheelie bins.
- Collect trade refuse on agreed days.
- Collect special collections within five days.
- Ensure that there is a recycling bank within one
kilometre of your home.
- Ensure the council owned town centre toilets are cleaned
every day.
- Provide Civic Amenity site facilities for the public
seven days a week.
