Ride and Stride

Newham Unit for the 2012 Games, Newham Cyclists and the Newham Striders, have compiled a detailed map of walking and cycling routes, which takes in the Olympic venues Newham and other host boroughs.

Cycle LaneThe map is being launched on Saturday 31 May at 10.00am in Meridian Square to commemorate the first known bike race which took place in Paris in 1868.

On the day the free map will be distributed and Newham residents will have the opportunity to sign up for a guided walking or cycling tour taking in the sites of the rapidly developing 2012 venues.

There will be lots of other activities taking place in the Square itself, and the event is a good way to prepare for Newham Cycle Day which takes place on Sunday 8 June at the Greenway.

So dig out your bike or walking shoes and get fit and active over the upcoming summer months. Explore more of your local area and find out exactly what's going on at the 2012 venues.

From Tuesday 27 May you can email the Promotions Team or telephone 0208 430 4489 to book on either a guided walk or cycle ride.
