The Nottingham Declaration on climate change

Climate change poses a genuine threat to our planet

The scale of the challenge means that all sectors of the community have to be involved if we are to meet targets for reducing emissions and adapting to climate change.

Local Authorities in particular have a crucial role to play in responding to this challenge.

Councils can show their commitment to this important issue by signing The Nottingham Declaration on climate change (2000).

Newham became the first Olympic and Paralympic Borough to sign the Declaration in May 2007.

By signing, the council pledges to actively tackle climate change in the borough and work with others to reduce emissions country-wide.
