I am the voice of young
people.
I believe that young people have a pivotal role to play in the
community of Newham. Young people have a huge role to play in the
Olympics which will bring pride to them in their community.
Newham's youth are not really noticed for the things that they do.
So this will enhance what Newham's youth can do and
accomplish.
Three things I want to focus on if I become Young Mayor are:
1) Gang Crime: I as a youth know what young people are not happy
with and this is definitely one of them. Many young people are
scared to go to certain places as they are scared of being mugged
or getting their possessions stolen from them. I want this to
change so the streets can be safe for every young person.
2) Olympics: Young people play a very important role of showing the
tourists and other visitors who come to experience the Olympic
Games in Newham what Newham is actually about. What I plan to
change is the amount of young people who take part in the Olympics
in any way or form.
3) Youth Clubs and after school activities: Due to the cuts by the
government many youth clubs and places where young people go to
'chill' have been closed down. Therefore young people have nowhere
to go and nothing to do except from staying on the roads. This is a
very critical issue, as youth clubs are a place where young people
socialize and interact. This needs to be changed!
I am Michael Meshe and I know I have the qualities a Young Mayor
should have as I am very bold, confident & outspoken. I wish to
make Newham a safer and better place for the youth of the
borough
